Frequently Asked Questions

What if I am in crisis?

If you are experiencing a serious crisis, call 1-800-273-8255 (National Suicide Hotline) or (801) 691-5433 (UT Co crisis line)

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept all insurance, but we have only signed contracts to be a preferred, in-network provider with certain insurance companies.

If your health insurance is one of the insurance companies we are contracted with we will submit claims directly to your insurance for each appointment.

Even if your health insurance company is not one of those with which we have a contract, your insurance may still reimburse a portion of the cost of your sessions through your out-of-network benefits.  What that means is you pay us the full discounted cost of the session, and then we provide you with a statement showing your payments which you submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

How often should we meet?

Frequency of sessions is usually set up in the first session.  Because the relationship is the most important part of therapy we usually recommend regular sessions to begin with, usually weekly, biweekly, or every third week but no less than monthly.  It is difficult to build a relationship and gain some momentum for changing things when we aren’t meeting frequently enough.

Can I bring my child(ren) with me?

It depends. If the child is old enough to understand what is being discussed in the session or if you find that it is difficult to focus during the session, we recommend the child be left with another caregiver. However, if your child is able to entertain themselves without your explicit focus we do have some toys in the office that children can play with, but the office is not baby-proofed.

Will you write me a letter for my Emotional Support Animal (ESA)?

Writing an emotional support animal letter is reserved for existing clients and on a case-by-case basis.
