My Philosophy

I know what it’s like to be lost, scared, and feel alone. I also know what it’s like to wish for help and not be able to access it. I never want anyone to feel that way, which is why I became a therapist. I want you to know that you don’t have to face your struggles alone.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy. I want therapy to feel natural, authentic, and safe. I strive to be a therapist that my clients can trust and rely on.

My life philosophy at the moment is “you are where you’re supposed to be.” As someone who struggles with living in the moment, this is a frequent reminder to myself as well as my clients. It can often be hard to shut off the worry and anxiety about what’s going to happen tomorrow, next week, or even two years from now.

I believe clients can determine for themselves which parts of therapy will be useful and which won’t. I won’t solve your problems for you, but I am here with you, to challenge you, help you, teach you, listen to you, encourage you, and be with you when you really need someone.

I feel fulfilled when I can help you come to solutions that work for you. I want to validate your experience, and let you know that what you’re going through makes sense. I will also gently challenge you to look at things you might be avoiding or that are beneath your current awareness.

I really enjoy working with adolescents and adults, especially young adults. My ideal client is someone who is fed up with their destructive thought patterns and is ready to change them.

I specialize in helping people who are chronic overthinkers, worriers, catastrophizers, and controllers. I also love helping people learn skills to help manage depression, anxiety, and a variety of other issues.

I am also receiving training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), a powerful treatment for anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma and other issues. I also have training in Cognitive Processing Therapy, the preferred PTSD treatment for the US military.

About Me

When I am not working, I love coming home and relaxing on the porch with a good book. Fantasy is my favorite genre but from time to time I like a really good mystery or sci-fi book. I am also a movie connoisseur. I watch almost any scary/thriller movie I can get my hands on, good or bad. I also need a good laugh and enjoy romantic comedies as well. I am an avid animal lover. I’ve had animals at home for as long as I can remember. Currently I have one kitty that I adore. My husband and I love getting out and going to the movies, or trying the latest creations from Crumble or Swig. If therapy wasn’t my calling, I would love to work with animals!

My Qualifications: I graduated from Utah Valley University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in social work and in 2021 with a master’s degree in social work. I am licensed in the state of Utah as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
